Discover Android TV 9 Pie on the new Thomson TVs!

Tv programs in the spotlight

TV users, even if connected, want to have access to their favorite programs. Google has understood this and shows it within Android TV 9 Pie: rather than highlighting the applications offered within the Google Play Store, the operating system now values more TV programs. This includes displaying key buttons for popular shows, but also shortcuts to the most commonly used services: if you subscribe to OCS, RMC Sport, or a follower of a specific replay app, you now have immediately access to it from the home page screen.

Android TV 9 puts TV shows, series and programs at the heart of the experience. It's about time, you might say. But better late than never. While Android TV has always offered a smooth interface and easy navigation, it's now easier than ever to access its favorite series, shows and services.

Better smartphone navigation... and voice!

Android TV traditionally drives itself with the TV remote control, but it is also possible to take control with your smartphone. A feature hitherto not really valued by Google, which finally decided to optimize it at the heart of Android TV 9. It is therefore possible to connect the smartphone to the TV to use its touch interface to better control the big screen. Doing a keyboard search is easier, as is using Android's voice system. Android TV 9 incorporates the Chromecast feature, which makes it easy to stream your photos and videos on your smartphone to your TV, with a simple touch.

But that's not all, since Android TV 9 also incorporates the features of “Google Assistant”, Google's voice assistant, especially present in Google Home speakers. If you've taken the time to set up this system, you can control your Thomson UE64 TV set by voice, but also use it to turn on your connected light bulbs, set your thermostat, and much more, based on the connected objects you own and have set up.

Much more functional, the Android TV 9 becomes the center of your connected-home “hub”.

That's a lot, but that's not all!

webcams and PS4 controller are also supported

Android TV 9 Pie also supports, natively, a handful of new devices that go in the direction of creating a connected "hub”. Perhaps the most significant addition to this point is the ability to plug in a webcam or a CCTV camera  on the TV, which allows you to make video calls directly from the TV, and on the other hand, to be able to watch from your couch, what is happening in front of your home or in certain rooms of your home. A smart additional solution, which once again exploits the extensive capabilities of Android TV.

In addition, connected TVs offer higher and higher performance, which is consistent with Android TV's proposal. And because Android TV 9 Pie has new features, Thomson UE64 TVs have matching features.Among the Android apps that can be downloaded are many immersive video games, which require a controller in order to be played and to enjoy them fully. That's why Google has integrated Android TV 9 Pie support for the PS4's Dualshock controller.  If you have a controller of this model, you can wirelessly connect it to a Thomson E64 TV to take full advantage of the high-performance video games offered by Android TV.

With these new features, Android TV 9 Pie confirms that the connected TV still has a bright future ahead of it, and that the improvements in this area are not ready to stop. With its UE64 TV range, Thomson has chosen to be among the first TV manufacturers to integrate this new version of Google's operating system: a good reason to opt for a next-generation Ultra HD TV, starting this summer!
