Thanks to the development of increasingly optimized processors, it is possible to design ultralight, ultracompact and ultrafine laptops, without sacrificing power or autonomy. The proof with the ultraportable Thomson Neo Z3 and Z360 equipped with an octocore processor, the Snapdragon 835.

Designed by Qualcomm, it benefits from a 10 nm etching process. Concretely, this means that because of the extreme finesse of this engraving, this processor can house more components than those of previous generations and that they are better arranged.

This results in an optimization of the architecture, with among various advantages, a better thermal stability. No need here of a bulky fan to take advantage of the necessary computing power. Without a fan, it is also able to work in silence, an appreciable asset when the notebook is used in class, at work or in a public place.

The optimized architecture of the Snapdragon 835, combined with its use of a simplified ARM instruction set, also allows it to be very energy efficient. This sobriety offers the Neo Z3 and Z360 a great autonomy of more than 24 hours in use.

Perfect for new uses

 

Having more components in a microprocessor, means also that they are also more possibilities for the machines that are equipped with it. In addition to its CPU (central processor) operating up to 2.45 Ghz, the Snapdragon 835 includes an Adreno 540 GPU (graphics processor). It supports the video display on the IPS Full HD screen, as well as the calculation of 3D for applications that use it.

It is therefore quite comfortable to play videos in high definition or to do some image processing.
