Special for Children: How to set a tablet

computing

keep your children busy but also safely

Whether for a trip or for the holidays, a tablet is the ideal tool to occupy a child. Drawing applications, games, Youtube playlists and cartoons will be welcome.

But before all things, a small step for "security" is better!

Secure the tablet

Before entrusting a tablet to a child, some precautions should be taken upfront so that its usage could proceed safely. Thus, the activation of parental control will be necessary to ensure the child should have no access to the Internet without supervision.

To activate it on Thomson HERO tablets and TEO tablets

you have to:

- Open the Google Play Store app

- Choose at the top left Menu, Settings then Parental Control

- Set the button to "On"

- Create a code known only to you that must be entered to change the settings

- Then choose the type of content you want to filter

In the same way, Google, Bing, Yahoo search engines, etc. are not the most suitable for kids.

The ideal is to install Qwant Junior

which is a search engine specially developed for young people. There is no advertising, no access to adult content or e-commerce sites.

Video entertainment

It is possible to copy video files from a computer to the tablet. To do this, connect the tablet to the PC via a USB cable. The tablet will then be recognized as a device of external storage on which you just need to copy the desired files. It is also possible to use a USB key to transfer files from one to another. Just check that the connectors USB are compatible. Then a simple copy / paste will be enough to transfer them.

Applications:

Apart from the games that will occupy it for a while, it is also interesting to install apps that will develop its capabilities. For instance : to draw, learn or improve one's general culture.

Youtube playlists

If your child has a particular preference for a cartoon or a show, it is possible to simply create a playlist with the different episodes.

To do this, simply search for the first episode and click on "Save" at the bottom located on the right side of the video. Then select "create a playlist" and choose a name for this playlist in the "Name" section. Then determine if this playlist will be public or private. Then click "Create". The playlist will be displayed in the menu on the left on the Youtube page. So, every time your child will open the Youtube page, it will be enough for him to click on the playlist on the left to to access.

There you go ! You can now put your tablet in your child's hands. It is ready for use ... but of course: with moderation!
